Dyeing more clothes this year ✨🌿🌈

Hi friend,

I’ve just finished editing the final two videos for my soon-to-launch Natural Dye Rainbow course, and it feels so good knowing it’s finally done. I've been dreaming this up for a few years.

The whole course is about creating a natural dye rainbow using just three traditional dyes — madder, weld and indigo. It still astounds me that all of these colours are possible simply by overlapping them in different ways.

One of my plans for this year is to dye myself more clothes. I’ve got a little stash of white garments I’ve been collecting, and I’m really excited to start transforming them. I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, but I do love having general plans like this. I'll keep you posted on how things go.

If you’re curious about where I buy fabric and clothes to dye, I’ve made a directory that you can download with all of my favourite shops around the world.

And that brings me to something I’ve been thinking about lately…

Over the past week, a few people have emailed me asking how to get started with natural dyeing as a total beginner. So I thought I’d gather a few gentle entry points for you here — things you can try without needing anything fancy.

If you’re tempted to start natural dyeing, these are lovely places to begin:

1️⃣ Paint with petals and lemon juice (free eBook). Yes, you can literally make paint from these things!

2️⃣ Start dyeing with milk and tea (blog post). Open your kitchen cupboard and you’ll probably already have everything you need.

3️⃣ A beginner’s toolkit for natural dyeing (free guide). The basic tools I use and recommend, so you don’t overcomplicate it.

4️⃣ Seasonal colour guide (free eBook). A guide to what you can grow and forage throughout the year for natural dyeing.

I hope some of those free resources are helpful.

Hi friend, A few people have asked whether I’ll be running The Natural Dye Rainbow again, because they don’t have the time to start right now.
